One thing retainers have learned is that semen retention increases willpower.
Willpower is commonly defined as the ability to control your thoughts, feelings, actions, and urges. It is also defined as the ability to resist short-term temptations or gratification so that one reaches long-term goals.
Retainers claim that semen retention builds willpower because they find it easier to quit bad, addictive habits while on semen retention.
I support this claim because every time I retain my seed, I always find it easier to quit smoking weed. When I am not retaining, I always smoke almost every day, despite knowing the negative impact of weed on my mental and physical health.
I have discovered that it is always easier to control the thoughts and feelings that result in me buying weed when retaining my seed. This discovery forced me to think about the relationship between semen retention and weed and even do some research.
As a result, I found that willpower highly relies on energy, and this is why your willpower goes down when you are mentally or physically exhausted. Semen retention, therefore, increases willpower by ensuring that there are large quantities of energy within the body.
Scientific research has found that the brain, like other organs in the body, requires large amounts of energy to function optimally. When you retain your seed, you accumulate a lot of life-force energy, ensuring that more energy is available to the brain. When more energy is available to the brain, your willpower strengthens as it becomes easier to control your thoughts and urges.
Conversely, your willpower or ability to control thoughts, feelings, and urges weakens when you constantly release your life-force energy through sex and masturbation because you ensure that you operate on low energy, leaving less energy available for the brain. When operating in an energy deficit, the brain suppresses the higher-level functions required for willpower to reserve fuel for baseline, automatic survival mechanisms. This is why compulsive sexual behavior is usually seen as a contributor to other addictions such as gambling and drug abuse.
The part of the brain that deals with willpower, the prefrontal cortex, requires a lot of energy to function optimally. In fact, scientific research has found that it is one of the most energy-demanding regions of the brain. Compulsive sexual behavior weakens the prefrontal cortex’s functionality by depleting the body’s energy, while semen retention boosts its performance by ensuring large quantities of energy are available to it. When the prefrontal cortex’s performance is enhanced, it leads to strong willpower, making it easier to quit destructive habits.
Another reason why semen retention strengthens willpower is that the more you practice self-control by resisting thoughts, feelings, and urges that usually lead to bad habits, the stronger your willpower becomes. Every time you resist an urge instead of giving in to it, you strengthen your ability to control your impulses. With consistent practice, self-control becomes easier because you are repeatedly training your mind to act according to your intentions rather than your immediate desires. Semen retention, therefore, builds willpower because it ensures that you consistently resist sexual thoughts and urges.
Psychologists see willpower as a muscle, and this is why they advise us to exercise our willpower, which means to actively use determination and discipline to resist short-term temptations.
Semen retention builds up the willpower muscle by exercising it continuously. The sexual urge is a very strong urge that requires considerable self-control and discipline to resist, especially when you are accustomed to satisfying it whenever it arises. Each time you experience the urge and choose not to act on it, you are effectively exercising your willpower. You are teaching yourself to tolerate discomfort and remain in control of your actions rather than allowing your immediate desires to control you. Over time, this repeated practice strengthens your willpower, making it easier to resist other urges.
Semen retention also strengthens willpower by bringing greater mental clarity. One way it does this is by reducing the mental noise associated with sexual thoughts and fantasies. You may already know that certain habits are holding you back, but semen retention can make this realization feel different. It can bring a deeper level of awareness, and you start seeing the effects of your habits with greater sharpness. You do not necessarily discover that these habits are bad for the first time; rather, you begin to see more clearly how they are negatively affecting your life by keeping you from becoming the person you want to be.
When you see your habits with this greater clarity, they become harder to ignore. You become more conscious of the choices you make and more aware of the consequences that follow. This greater awareness gives your willpower a clear direction because you have a stronger understanding of what you need to resist and why you need to resist it. In this way, semen retention strengthens willpower not only by training you to resist sexual urges, but also by helping you see more clearly what is worth resisting in the first place.
I don’t care whether these explanations about the relationship between semen retention and willpower are right or wrong, and neither should you. What many other retainers and I know from experience is that semen retention increases willpower. The explanations do not really matter because they are only theories about why this happens. What truly matters is the result: semen retention improves your willpower and makes it easier to overcome destructive habits. Try retaining for at least 90 days, and you will experience this firsthand.
